Manchester United Discovers the Severity of Lisandro Martinez’s Injury.

The Argentine footballer, recently recovering from a significant foot injury, suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s 3-0 triumph against West Ham United.

Despite attempting to continue playing initially, he had to leave the field in the second half.

Post-match, manager Erik ten Hag expressed concern, fearing a season-ending ACL injury. However, Martinez’s diagnosis revealed a sprained collateral ligament, eliminating the need for surgery.

According to a statement from Manchester United: “Lisandro Martinez has sustained a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee, projecting a recovery period of at least eight weeks.

The Argentine defender exited the field during our 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday at Old Trafford.

We wish Licha a swift recovery and anticipate his return later in the season.”

Martinez is set for an eight-week recovery, targeting a comeback in April. Manchester United faces Chelsea on April 3 and hosts Liverpool three days later.

The April schedule also includes matches against Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Burnley.

Closing out the Premier League campaign in May, United will play Crystal Palace, Arsenal, and Brighton on May 19.

Manager Ten Hag has experience coping without Martinez, who missed 12 games last season and 22 across all competitions this year.

Concerns arise about pairing Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire in defense, with Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and 19-year-old Willy Kambwala as the senior alternatives.
