Iwobi: I Don’t Care About Social Media Abuse

Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that he is
unfazed by criticisms that trailed his performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Iwobi was a subject of cyberbullying after the competition which Nigeria took second position following defeat to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final.

The Fulham player was forced to delete all his Instagram posts and there were reports he was considering quiting international football.

The 27-year-old however claimed he is not bothered by the online criticism.

“The whole competition I didn’t see it. I remember in a press conference they said, ‘Where is the creativity?’ and I had to address the role I was given and I said I am the kind of guy who will listen to my coach and try to do the job I’m told to do,”he said in his project 17 podcast.

“It is what it is, it is not the first time…that is football. I would rather be off social media, I don’t want to see that and I don’t care.”

Iwobi is currently with Nigeria’s squad in Marrakech , Morocco for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali.
