French President Emmanuel Macron is hopeful Kylian Mbappe will represent the country at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Mbappe announced he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season on Friday.

The pacy forward has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The former Monaco striker recently said he wanted to play at the Olympics.

The 25-year-old has played 77 times for France and scored a goal in the 2018 World Cup final against Croatia to help his team win the trophy.

Mbappe was also part of the French national team that won win the FIFA World Cup in 2014 in Russia
