Vlahovic fires Juventus past in-form Atalanta to win 15th Coppa Italia in Rome

Juventus clinched their 15th Coppa Italia title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Atalanta, thanks to an early goal from Dusan Vlahovic.

The Bianconeri wasted no time in asserting their dominance, as Vlahovic capitalized on a well-executed pass from Andrea Cambiaso to find the back of the net. The Juventus fans erupted with joy at the Stadio Olimpico, hoping to witness their team maintain their momentum throughout the match.

However, Atalanta refused to make it easy for them. Mario Pasalic had a chance to equalize, but his shot was expertly saved by Mattia Perin. Charles de Ketelaere also came close with a long-range effort that sailed over the crossbar.

At halftime, De Ketelaere was substituted for El Bilal Toure, who made a positive impact by setting up Ademola Lookman for a powerful strike that narrowly missed the target. Tensions flared when Berat Djimsiti continued playing despite Iling Junior being down with a potential head injury.

Teun Koopmeiners almost capitalized on the situation with a header, but the whistle never came, leaving the Juventus players frustrated with Djimsiti’s actions. Despite Atalanta’s resilience, Juventus held on to their slim lead and emerged victorious, securing yet another Coppa Italia triumph.

Juve endured a relentless attack from La Dea but believed they had secured victory in the middle of the second half, only for Vlahovic’s header to be disallowed by the semi-automated offside system.

Before this incident, Carnesecchi and Marten De Roon combined to block his attempt, causing Atalanta’s Dutch captain and key player to leave the field with a limp. His fitness for the upcoming UEFA Europa League final is now a concern for the team.

Both teams hit the woodwork in the closing stages, with Lookman’s powerful shot striking the base of Perin’s post and Miretti’s effort rattling the crossbar at the other end.

However, Juventus remained resolute and secured their first trophy since facing Atalanta in the 2021 Coppa final. On the other hand, Atalanta will be eager to recover quickly as they prepare to face unbeaten Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Europa League final.
