Being a World Cup Champion Changed My Life –Messi

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has said winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022 changed his life.

Messi led the Argentina to their third World Cup title after overcoming France on penalties in a thrilling final.

The former Barcelona Star bagged a brace while former PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick in arguably one of the greatest World Cup finals.

It was Messi’s second appearance in the final after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Germany in 2014.

“It is very difficult to be a world champion and not everyone can get this trophy. The World Cup came at the right time,” Messi, who now features for Inter Miami said.

“Being the world champion changed my life. This was the only thing I was missing. Winning the World Cup is the ultimate and most complete, especially since I am Argentine. It is the dream of any player.”

Meanwhile, Messi will hope to help Argentina defend the Copa America title when the tournament commence in the United States from June 20 to July 14.

Argentina are in the same group with Peru, Chile and Canada.
