Ronaldinho Slams Brazil’s Copa America Squad

Ronaldinho Considers Coming Out Of Retirement To Play Under Maradona

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho on Saturday expressed disappointment and anger over the Brazil squad that was selected for the 2024 Copa America.

The former Barcelona and AC Milan star added that he would be boycotting every game of the tournament that starts from 21 June.

“This is a sad moment for those who love Brazilian soccer. It’s getting hard to find the spirit to watch the games. This is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years, it has no respectable leaders, only average players for the majority.

I’ve been following football since I was a kid, long before I thought about becoming a player, and I’ve never seen a situation as bad as this. Lack of love for the shirt, lack of grit and the most important of all: football,” Ronaldinho shared in an Instagram post.

Ronaldinho is a winner of Copa America and the FIFA World Cup with Brazil in 1999 and 2002 respectively.

Brazil are placed in Group D for the 16-team Copa America tournament. The group comprises of Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica.

The nine-time champions will open their campaign against Costa Rica in Inglewood, California on 25 June.
