Onetime African Coach of The Year, Kadiri Ikhana, has frowned at the unwarranted verbal attack by reigning African Footballer of The Year, Victor Osimhen, on former Super Eagles coach Finidi George and Nigerians, recommending the striker be punished by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Completesports.com reports.
Ikhana told Completesports.com in a telephone chat from his Abeokuta home that Osimhen’s outburst was very disrespectful and undeserving of African Footballer of The Year, adding that if such act is allowed to go unpunished it might breed indiscipline in the camp of national team in future.
The coach who led Enyimba International FC to win the CAF Champions League for the first time for Nigeria in 2003 said it’s been over two weeks since Osimhen blasted Finidi over media reports allegedly that he (Osimhen ) and some Super Eagles players are unpatriotic and the Napoli striker has yet to apologise.

“I want the NFF to look into the matter and ban Osimhen from national team for a period with monetary fine if he fails to apologise to Finidi and Nigerians whom he disrespected with his video rants on his Instagram handle. If this behaviour is allowed to slide
“Even if Finidi George said those things Osimhen accused him of, it didn’t warrant his disrespecting a legend old enough to be his father. At best he should have called Finidi privately to find out if he really said those words before pouring invectives on his coach,” the former Super Falcons coach stated.
Ikhana called on Osimhen to go to Port Harcourt and mend fences with Finidi with a proper apologies, adding that he should do same to the NFF and Nigerians over his rants.
On the chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ikhana said it will be a very difficult task but if NFF and the players resolve to give it their all by winning their remaining games, the Super Eagles can make it to the next World cup to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
