Paris Olympics: Super Falcons Group Opponent Japan Unveil Official Squad

Nigeria’s Super Falcons Paris 2024 Olympic games group opponent Japan has unveiled their official 18-woman squad.

The squad which was announced on Friday, June 27, 2024 features Liverpool star Fuka Nagano.

Japan are in Group C and begin their campaign versus Spain on Thursday July 25.

The 2011 FIFA women’s World Cup champions will then face Brazil three days later, before concluding the group phase against the Super Falcons Nigeria on July 31.

Meanwhile, Japan will take on Black Queens of Ghana in a friendly game billed for Saturday, July 13, in Kanazawa, Japan.

The friendly is part of Japan’s preparation for the upcoming summer games.

This will be the second time the Super Falcons and Japan would square off at the Olympic games.

In their first encounter in the group stage at the Athens 2004 Olympics games, a Vera Okolo strike secured a 1-0 win for the nine-time African champions.

However, the last three meetings between Japan and the Super Falcons have all been in friendly games which all ended same scoreline, 2-0, in favour of the Asian team.
