The 2024/25 Premier League season gets underway on Friday night and Manchester United are the first to come to the fore as they welcome Fulham to Old Trafford to kick off the new campaign.
There’s a sense of stability being restored at the Theatre of Dreams after INEOS opted to retain manager Erik ten Hag and a busy transfer window has many supporters teetering towards optimism.
The Red Devils faithful are buzzing for opening night and the club’s spate of injuries mean several of United’s fresh faces will be in action.
Here’s the latest on Man Utd’s injury situation ahead of Fulham’s visit.

Ten Hag is without several defenders on opening night which should see former Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui make their first starts for the club.
Leny Yoro, another new arrival, is out of action for the long haul after breaking his foot in pre-season. The highly coveted French defender is poised for months on the sidelines.
There’s greater uncertainty surrounding Victor Lindelof, who was withdrawn during United’s pre-season friendly against Liverpool in South Carolina. Ten Hag has not confirmed what issue the centre-back is dealing with after he was left out of the Community Shield squad last weekend. An update on his status wasn’t provided ahead of Friday’s game.
Luke Shaw’s injury woes have resurfaced after he featured during the knockout stages for England at Euro 2024. His pre-season was brief, with the left-back once again struggling due to a calf problem. United confirmed in the week that Shaw would miss the start of the new season, but there’s hope he’ll return after the first international break in September.
Fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia missed the entirety of last season after undergoing knee surgery, but the Dutchman was spotted back at Carrington in the summer. However, a return to competitive action is still months away.

Rasmus Hojlund will have to wait a little while to kick into gear during his sophomore season after he sustained a hamstring injury during United’s pre-season defeat to Arsenal.
The Dane enjoyed bright spurts during his debut campaign but the striker himself will know that there’s plenty more to come. His 2024/25 campaign is unlikely to get going before the first international break, though.
