Manchester United travel to the south coast this Saturday lunchtime where they will face Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

The Red Devils kicked off their Premier League campaign with a late victory over Fulham, substitute and new summer signing Joshua Zirkzee netting the only goal in a 1-0 win. It wasn’t a hugely convincing performance from Erik ten Hag’s side and they will have to improve for their journey down south this weekend.

Brighton got off to the dream start on new manager Fabian Hurzeler’s debut. The Seagulls put three unanswered goals past Everton at Goodison Park, with new recruits sparkling on Merseyside. They will be hoping to continue their impressive recent record against United, even if they did taste defeat in the most recent meeting.

Brighton are without a number of players for Man Utd’s visit but new signing Yankuba Minteh should be available despite suffering a head injury at Goodison Park.

Bart Verburggen is still absent so Jason Steele will start once more and Solly March is yet to recover from his long-term knee injury. Julio Enciso is also likely to miss out with a knee injury suffered on international duty this summer.

Tariq Lamptey could feature despite speculation over a summer move and both Pervis Estupinan and Evan Ferguson are closing in on returns after long-term injuries. It remains to be seen whether they will be cleared to face Man Utd.

Rasmus Hojlund is still absent after picking up a hamstring injury in pre-season against Arsenal and Zirkzee may be handed a spot up top given his heroics against Fulham on matchday one.

Victor Lindelof is a doubt for Saturday’s clash but could feature in some capacity, while Jadon Sancho’s future remains unclear. He was omitted from the Fulham squad but Ten Hag has since stated that this was due to an ear infection.

Man Utd struggled to get out of second gear against Fulham but they should only get stronger as the weeks progress and their new signings settle. However, they have struggled against Brighton in recent fixtures and may have similar issues up against Hurzeler’s men.

Brighton were exceptional in pre-season and made light work of Everton on the road in their first competitive outing of the campaign. Some clever summer transfers and a positive atmosphere surrounding the south coast side may see them earn a draw against the Red Devils.
