Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne says he had no contact from any clubs about leaving the Premier League champions this summer.

The Belgian turned heads in June when he admitted he would consider a transfer to the Saudi Pro League, who had previously earmarked him as a major target for the coming years.

However, City manager Pep Guardiola later clarified De Bruyne would not be going anywhere as his side attempt to win a fifth league title in a row.

Now, the 33-year-old has revealed he wasn’t contacted by any would-be buyers and is concentrating on matters on the pitch for now.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: “I haven’t spoken to anyone, to be honest.

“There has been a lot of noises and news. I said in the summer I expect a quiet summer and that’s actually what happened. I’ve been on holiday for four weeks, came back and started training. That was it. Nothing to tell.”

De Bruyne is entering his tenth season as a City player and his current deal will expire at the end of the campaign, though he anticipates talks over an extension will commence with the club before then.

He added: “I’ve not been entertained by anybody or spoken to anybody.

“Once the season goes on, I’m sure there will be conversations to be had with City.

“I just want to feel good, play good football and this will come in the upcoming months. I don’t really feel the rush for the moment.”

De Bruyne was eased back into the City squad after Euro 2024, appearing in the Community Shield as a late substitute, but has since started their three Premier League victories, scoring and assisting in the 4-1 thumping of Ipswich Town.

He’ll captain Belgium over the September international break for two Nations League clashes against Israel and France.
