Have you ever wondered what songs get your favourite players pumped up before a big game? Well, look no further.
Arsenal have given us a glimpse into what their squad like to fill their ears with pre-match at the start of the 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League.
We’ve had the chance to dive into the musical collections of Leah Williamson, Kim Little and Katie McCabe to name but a few and we are happy to report that we are liking what we see.
90min have ranked the five playlists we’ve seen so far.
It’s evident that Kyra Cooney-Cross prefers to grace the pitch in a calm and collected manner helped by the dulcet tones of pop sensations Olivia Dean, Noah Kahan, Lisa Mitchell and Tom Odell.
While we rated the fired up nature that Sia’s Unstoppable would likely bring, this playlist is a little too mellow for us and therefore our least favourite of the bunch.
Leah Williamson also opts for a more chilled approach to her games, sharing a similar taste in music to Cooney-Cross.
Like the Australia international, her choices would certainly help foster a more relaxed dressing room environment, with that only being broken by Sigma’s fast-paced Nobody to Love.
It’s no secret that the centre-back draws fashion inspiration from eras that came before her and that’s evident in her song selection. The addition of Lauryn Hill’s Tell Him is the only reason she’s not ended up at the bottom of our list.
Is it part of the job as Arsenal captain to listen to North London Forever pre-match? Well, it’s something Kim Little takes very seriously.
After spending more thanten years of her career in north London it’s really no surprise that the city’s capital features more than once. Albeit slow, Adele’s Hometown Glory earned her big points from us, helping the 34-year-old remember just how much she loves representing her club.
That coupled with Tracy Chapman’s Talkin’ Bout A Revolution alsoshows just how fired up Little likes to get in order to lead her team.
We expected nothing less from Katie McCabe with her pre-match playlist. Every single song embodies her playing style perfectly, bringing energy, determination and guts week in, week out.
It’s now so much easier to understand why the Republic of Ireland international has such a winning attitude when she’s listening to the likes of Peggy Gou, Fred Again and Tems before kick-off.
These are the exact songs you’d expect a defender to lap up as they prepare to guard their goal at all costs.
There is one clear winner in our eyes and that’s Lotte Wubben-Moy. Arsenal’s heritage in north London is encapsulated perfectly with the inclusion of city-born artists Lily Allen and Kano.
The additional upbeat rhythms heard in Gorillaz’s Dirty Harry and Jamie XX & Romy’s Loud Places are the ideal combination to instil confidence and ensure a fighting mentality.
