Barcelona fly out to the Canary Islands for their upcoming La Liga clash on Saturday night as they take on Las Palmas.
The struggling hosts stunned the Catalan giants in the reverse fixture, claiming a 2-1 victory at the Montjuic back in November. They’re now chasing their first home league win over the current La Liga leaders since 1986.
However, El Pio-Pio enter Saturday’s bout amid a dreadful run of form. They’re winless in 2025, are 17th in the La Liga table and are only ahead of Valencia on goal difference.
Barcelona’s defeat in the reverse fixture came during a downturn in form for Hansi Flick’s side, but they haven’t skipped a beat in the new year and are unbeaten in 12 games across all competitions.
Here is 90min’s guide to Saturday’s La Liga fixture.

Fermin Lopez is eligible to return to Flick’s squad after serving a one-game suspension, but Gavi could retain his place in midfield with Dani Olmo also in contention.
Ronald Araujo will struggle to regain his place given Inigo Martinez’s form alongside teenage star Pau Cubarsi, while fellow centre-back Andreas Christensen remains out injured. Jules Kounde earned a rest against Rayo Vallecano and should return to the backline.
Marc Bernal and Marc-Andre ter Stegan are absent again.
Barcelona predicted lineup vs Las Palmas (4-2-3-1):Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Balde; Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Gavi, Raphinha; Lewandowski.
Saturday’s hosts secured a vintage smash and grab triumph at the end of November, and they’ll require similar good fortune to secure a positive result on home soil this weekend.
Las Palmas are in a rut but have little to lose when the league leaders come to town, with their victory in the reverse fixture surely instilling some confidence.
Barca were troubled by an impressive Rayo team on Monday, but they also created more than enough to win with some comfort. Flick’s side are in a ‘good moment’ and they’ll be keen to avenge Las Palmas’ upset triumph last time out on Saturday night.
