Nunez is said to have picked up a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 4-3 defeat to Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The striker, who was criticised for his poor defending ahead of United’s fourth and final goal – played the full 120 minutes and appeared to walk off the pitch without any issues.
However, the 24-year-old has now been removed from the Uruguay squad – although reports are stating it is more of a precautionary measure rather than a serious injury injury.
Nunez is not the only player to have been pulled from international duty as a precaution. Gabriel Magalhaes’ withdrawal from the Brazil squad for their upcoming friendlies against England and Spain.
