Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has expressed his desire to be part of the senior national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Nigerian international made this known in an interview with Segun Odegbami, where he said that he’s coming to the best of his career and feels more motivated to represent the Super Eagles.
“Yes, I will be available for 2025 AFCON but 2026 World Cup is my main target and I feel I am coming to the best year of my career. I feel good physically and I am recovery well now. I feel more motivated than before and to be really be part of history and join some of the great stars who have won one trophy before.

“So that is one thing I really want to achieve in my career. And I know I need to play well at club level to put myself in the picture and we have the chance to do so hopefully next year in Morocco. It will be better than we did in Abijan. “
The PAOK FC defender also reflected on meeting Lionel Messi as one of his best moments and losing the AFCON as worst moment.
“My best and my worst moments have been connected to each other. Winning a trophy has been my ultimate goal. But I have been so close. Playing at the 2022 World Cup, where I met Lionel Messi had in hand was my best moment and also at the 2023 AFCON in Abijan, where I almost won the tournament is the most painful moment.
“I think that’s the way I look at what I have done so far and look at what is ahead.”
