Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes suffered a blow following Wednesday night’s 2-0 loss against Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Everton have now won a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park for the first time since 17 October 2010.

A goal in each half by Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw Sean Dyche become the second manager to beat a Liverpool side handled by Jurgen Klopp.

The first manager to lead an Everton side to defeat a Reds side handled by Klopp was Carlo Ancelotti.

For the Toffees, they are in 16th position on 33 points and are eight points away from relegation zone.

Everton took the lead in the 27th minute through Branthwaite who fired at goal, and Alisson got a hand to it, but the ball rolled over the line.

Calvert-Lewin then made it 2-0 in the 58th minute as he rose highest to head in a corner kick.
