Max Allegri is reportedly starting the process to fight his former employer Juventus in court over unfair dismissal, as he tried to keep the remaining €9m of his salary.
Allegri was sacked two days after winning the Coppa Italia, officially because his behaviour during and following that match was “incompatible with the values” of the club.
Considering Juve had been ready to part company with Allegri regardless this summer, it was seen as them pouncing on the opportunity to fire him for ‘just cause’ and therefore avoid paying the remaining wages for a contract that runs to June 2025.
That is worth €7m plus €2m in add-ons, which would weigh on the Juventus accounts for circa €20m gross, so naturally they are eager to be rid of that agreement.
According to Calciomercato.com, via Football Italia, Allegri’s lawyers have now responded to the letter from Juventus and are ready to battle in court against what he considers to be unfair dismissal.
Allegri was sent off during the Coppa Italia Final, having taken his shirt and tie off, then started to unbutton his shirt and shouted towards the fourth official and refereeing designator.
He then got involved in an altercation with the editor of Tuttosport, although the pair made up just hours before the sacking.
Allegri and his lawyers will argue that the matter was blown entirely out of proportion and use that to get him a termination by mutual consent, complete with lucrative signing-off fee.
