Arsenal begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign on Saturday when they entertain Gary O’Neil’s Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners once again ran Manchester City close at the top of the table last season but couldn’t get over the line despite sitting in first for much of the year. The goal this year is to finally bring the silverware home, having not claimed the title since 2003/04.
Here’s the starting lineup Mikel Arteta could deploy to get Arsenal’s season off to a flier against Wolves this weekend.

GK: David Raya – Arsenal have made the Spaniard’s loan a permanent stay after he claimed the 2023/24 Golden Glove with 16 clean sheets, three more than second-place Jordan Pickford.
RB: Ben White – The former Brighton defender is fresh after a summer filled with no international football. His antics at set-pieces will be closely monitored after PGMOL revealed they will crack down on holding and blocking in the box.
CB: William Saliba – Is just one victory away from winning 50 Premier League games since joining Arsenal, showing just how pivotal the France international has been since breaking into the starting XI.
CB: Gabriel Magalhaes – The Brazilian defender was left out of the team at the start of last season but that is unlikely to be the case this term having established such a strong partnership with Saliba.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko – The Ukraine international has been linked with an exit this summer and has added competition for his place in the form of Riccardo Calafiori, but Zinchenko should make the starting XI while the Italy international acclimatises to life in north London.
CM: Martin Odegaard – The pivotal cog in Arsenal’s attack, Odegaard can control the tempo of Premier League matches. His displays will be key if Arteta’s side are to overhaul City at the top of the table.
CM: Thomas Partey – The domineering Partey has got an injury-free pre-season under his belt this summer and is expected to partner Rice in midfield.
CM: Declan Rice – The England international has played in the wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon since returning from Euro 2024 and will be looking to build on his impressive first campaign with the Gunners.
RW: Bukayo Saka – Another returning member of this summer’s Three Lions squad, Saka was Arsenal’s leading Premier League goalscorer last season with 16 strikes and is set for another exciting year on the right flank.
ST: Kai Havertz – There have been rumblings of Arsenal desiring a new striker during the summer transfer window but Havertz made the position his own during 2023/24 and will want to back up the 13 league goals he scored.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – The Brazilian now has fierce competition from Leandro Trossard on the left wing. The Belgian was a clutch performer in the latter stages of the campaign but Martinelli will be keen for a chance to reclaim his spot.
