Player ratings as Son double puts Spurs on brink of Europa League last 16

Tottenham Hotspur have one foot in the automatic last 16 of the Europa League following Thursday night’s matchday seven victory over Hoffenheim in Germany.
Spurs went ahead within the first few minutes, Pedro Porro sending a long pass over the top into the path of James Maddison to control and finish for a dream start.
There was an element of fortune about the second of the night, scored by Son Heung-min. Maddison’s deflected pass put the Spurs captain in on goal and hos deflected shot looped over Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.
Brandon Austin made an excellent save to keep the score-line at 2-0 in the first half, before a Hoffenheim onslaught ensued after the break. The hosts hit the bar through ex-Leicester City striker Andrej Kramaric, before VAR intervened to overturn a penalty awarded against Austin.
Hoffenheim then did pull one back through Anton Stach, but Son restored breathing room for Spurs with just over ten minutes to play with a stepover and low shot across goal from the left. And that proved crucial when substitute David Mokwa reduced the deficit again in the closing stages.
