Manchester United are seeking revenge on Sunday afternoon when they visit Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have twice been beaten by their fellow underachievers this season, with Ruben Amorim losing 4-3 on his first trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as United boss in mid-December. Erik ten Hag’s side suffered a bruising 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford back in September, too.

Four wins from their previous five in all competitions will boost morale within United’s inconsistent squad, but they have lost two of their last three Premier League matches. Disappointing defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace mean the pressure is still firmly pushing down on Amorim’s shoulders.

Here is how United could line up at the weekend.

Patrick Dorgu

GK: Andre Onana – The next gaffe is never too far from view with Onana but the Cameroon international has still made some astonishing saves this term. He will be tested frequently by Spurs’ tricky forward line.

CB: Leny Yoro – Yoro has endured a difficult start to his career in English football, following a sizeable injury with some unconvincing performances. Son Heung-min and Mathys Tel will occupy his zone on Sunday – that’s some test of your credentials.

CB: Harry Maguire – The towering centre-back scored the controversial late winner in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend but will be concentrating more on defensive duties in north London.

CB: Noussair Mazraoui – With Lisandro Martinez out for the season and beyond, United will have to find a new left-sided centre-back in the coming months. Victor Lindelof is the most natural fit but Mazraoui started in the role against Leicester last weekend.

RM: Patrick Dorgu – The Denmark international was lively on his debut in the cup but was withdrawn at half-time as he’s eased into his new surroundings. He could start on the right-hand side again this weekend.

CM: Casemiro – With Kobbie Mainoo sidelined and Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer expected to miss out, the ageing legs of Casemiro may grace the turf on Sunday. The Brazilian has been used sparingly by Amorim but can provide some defensive nous in central areas.

CM: Bruno Fernandes – The Portuguese is not as effective in a deeper role but has adopted the function in recent weeks to allow Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho room in the starting XI.

LM: Diogo Dalot – With the attack-minded Pedro Porro and insatiable Dejan Kulusevski dovetailing down his flank, Dalot will have to be at his most robust against Spurs. He’s unlikely to get much support from Garnacho ahead of him.

RF: Joshua Zirkzee – With Amad Diallo facing a potentially season-ending injury, options are incredibly slim in attack and Zirkzee may be tasked with dropping a little deeper to help out.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund – The £72m man risks being replaced this summer if he’s unable to offer any glimpses of improvement under Amorim. Hojlund has been in dire form and is fortunate that Joshua Zirkzee has been similarly blunt up top.

LF: Alejandro Garnacho – Garnacho brought the necessary energy from the bench in the FA Cup that helped turn the game around and he will need to provide similar cutting edge on the counter-attack against Spurs.
