Sarina Wiegman has named her 25-player England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and South Africa, with Jess Naz, Lauren James and Lucy Parker among those chosen.
It was a quiet summer for the Lionesses as Team GB failed to reach the Olympic games, which means full focus was on qualifying for the Euro 2025. Wiegman’s side, reigning champions from 2022, secured their place at next summer’s tournament as they finished second in their qualifying group behind France, but ahead of Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.
Now, they are gearing up for their first international break of the new season in preparation for the showpiece in Switzerland. England will play four friendlies before the end of the calendar year, starting with the visits of Germany and South Africa.
In a repeat of the 2022 Euro final, the Lionesses will test themselves against Germany at Wembley Stadium once again on Friday 25 October. They will then host Banyana Banyana at the Coventry Building Society Arena four days later on 29 October.
Aston Villa’s Parker has been recalled to the squad for the first time in a year following injury. Lotte Wubben-Moy and Lauren James are also back in the fold after missing the July qualifiers through injury. Jess Naz and Aggie Beever-Jones retain their places after impressing over the summer, but Manchester United defender Millie Turner has missed out this time.
